Biography

Dr. Sandra Wienke is a research scientist and the deputy manager of the HPC group at the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University. She earned her doctoral degree in computer science from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, for modeling the productivity, total ownership costs and software development efforts in HPC. Her research interests include high-performance computing on parallel heterogeneous architectures. To this end, she is especially interested in the analysis of development productivity, cost effectiveness and performance of benchmarks and real-world applications using various programming models on many- and multicore systems. From day one of NHR (national high-performance computing), she has served as one of the principal investigators of NHR4CES and supports the cross-sectional group “Parallelism and Performance”.  Dr. Wienke is part of the Women in HPC (WHPC) community since 2014, and the NHR4CES@RWTH representative of the NHR|WHPC chapter since 2024. Since 2013, she engages in the SPEC High Performance Group (HPG). Furthermore, Dr. Wienke provides support for parallel programming to researchers at RWTH Aachen University and gives lectures and trainings on this topic at universities, workshops and international conferences. She regularly serves on program committees and as organizing committee member for conferences and workshops.
