Biography
Benjamin started working for the Data and AI systems group at TU Darmstadt as a PhD student in January 2018 and was part of the research training group AIPHES from July 2018 to June 2021. Since March 2021, he leads the BMBF funded project INTEXPLORE – Interactive Structured Text Exploration, which he acquired as part of the Software Campus.
He is part of the CSG Data Management of NHR4CES since July 2021.
Thematic Advice
Benjamin works on interactive exploration tools for non-experts and can help in designing interactive systems with the human in the loop. He advocates that often approximate results are sufficient for the use-case at hand and can help with the decision whether a research application can be framed as an interactive approximate information extraction problem.
Professional Competence
Benjamin’s research focus lies on WannaDB, an interactive tool to run SQL queries on unstructured information (i.e., text) collections to explore their contents. Its core is a component to automatically transform relevant parts into tabular form based on interactive user feedback. He will support you in adapting your data to do basic hypothesis checking and other exploratory interactions using this interactive approach.
