The third NHR4CES Team event was held on April 26-27, 2022. The first day’s focus was on support collaborations.
The first speaker, Prof. Dr. Britta Nestler from Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), spoke about her work at NHR@KIT. Insights into the the working methods of another center enabled us to draw conclusions for our own work. In a subsequent panel with the guests Prof. Dr. Nestler, Dr. Jordan Denev from KIT, Prof. Dr. Romuald Skoda from Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Prof. Felix Wolf from Technische Universität Darmstadt, we discussed the biggest challenges to establish further support collaborations. The exchange with external partners helps us to develop and to build the best possible support structures for our users.
The second day of the team event focused on scientific challenges that our Cross-Sectional Groups (CSGs) and Simulation and Data Labs (SDLs) are facing. Tackling such problems together is one of the strengths in NHR4CES, which bundles several interdisciplinary support structures into one competence center for HPC in Computational Engineering Science.
In addition, the topic of training for HPC users from diverse scientific fields was taken up and we worked on the training plan, so that further events like workshops, tutorials or talks can be held soon.
